Noted for sensitivity in land-use planning, transportation, and urban design, Planmakers emphasizes creating places with strong local identity and devising plans that are implemented. Strong skills in citizen participation and building consensus make John
Bertram, owner, a valuable team member. For example, with Boise's State Street
corridor, Planmakers identified nodes for commercial redevelopment to better
serve the adjoining neighborhoods and reduce strip commercial activity. Other
plans emphasized the special character of an area and identified goals,
objectives, and steps to protect and enhance them. Nampa and Eagle plans
emphasized improvements to their gateways and resulted in creative entryway
beautification and signage. Planmakers has had active roles in preparing
comprehensive plans that have improved the quality of life in the following
Idaho communities: Eagle, Nampa (1994 and 2003), Fruitland, Jerome, Jerome
County, Twin Falls, Post Falls, and Boise County.
